PASSING OF FORMER CONNEMARA WOODS RESIDENT
Juanita Martin, formerly of 120 Connemara Drive, died peacefully on July 17th. Her husband Larry died May 25th, one day before his 86th birthday. They were original residents who moved away from our neighborhood about 4 years ago.
A joint memorial service for them is scheduled for Saturday, Aug 7th at 1:00 PM at the Unity of Fairfax Church, 2854 Hunter Mill Road, Oakton.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The Board is considering eliminated the hard-copy version of the newsletter and relying on email and web postings to keep residents informed. However, to make electronic delivery work, the Board will need current email addresses of all residents.
Also, sometimes it's necessary to get inportant information out to all homeowners quickly. The Board can't do this without having everyone's email address. If you haven't provided your email address to the BoD, please do so by sending a message to Catherine Hawkins at cahawkins121@msn.com.
The BoD is reviewing and updating paint colors permitted for use by homeowners. We are trying to use paint colors provided by vendors other than the original colors from McCormick Paints. Information will be provided once the Board concludes its review.
The BoD is collecting information regarding the possible impact of the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act (CBPA) on Connemara Woods homeowners. A community meeting on the CBPA proposal has been scheduled for July 29 at 7:00 p.m. at the Cascades Senior Center, 21060 Whitfield Place, Sterling. County staff will provide an update and answer questions. Visit www.loudoun.gov/ChesapeakeBay for additional information.
Regular meetings of the CWHA BoD (with some exceptions) are held the first Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at the home of Amaarah DeCuir.
RESEARCH ON RED FOXES
Adrienne Egge, a PhD student in conservation biology, is performing her dissertation research on red foxes in northern Virginia. Her project is focused on fox ecology and their stress response along an urban-rural gradient from Fairfax County to Purcellville in Loudoun and Front Royal in Warren County. She is currently searching for field sites where red foxes are known to live.
The project is noninvasive with the goal of minimizing contact with red foxes. The only thing she is looking for is red fox scat (poop). If you have recent sighting of red foxes in our neighborhood, please contact Adrienne at:
